EnvirothonOur students research and study various subjects about our environment including wildlife, soil, and plant identification in order to compete in Envirothon. Envirothon is a hands on competition that tests students knowledge along with their problem solving abilities. The picture above shows one of our school's groups that attended the competition in 2015. Sponsored by Soil Conservation, students learn through various hands on activities then demonstrate their knowledge through various competitions.

Room 310 is Green!Since 2007, Mr.Evans has participated in the Terrapin Head Start project sponsored by the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Every year, Mr.Evans receives a juvenile terrapin and raises it until it meets the growth standards to be released into the wild. While the terrapin is housed in the classroom, the students monitor its growth and behavior. Every week Mr.Evans takes measurements on the terrapin such as mass, length, and width. At the end of the year, the students get the opportunity to travel to Tilghman Island and release the terrapin into its habitat. The students learn about the island and the different species that live on it. This project provides a great learning experience for the students throughout the entire year and it has a positive impact on the terrapins population.

Art going Green! In the art program, students must complete multiple projects while using recycled materials to create their sculptures.
The picture above is of Alexis Johnston's Maryland Department of the Environment's 'Rethink Recycling' Sculpture contest. She was the only participant from the Eastern Shore. Metals used were aluminum cans, rebar, plastic bottle, and other found or recycled materials. Students were asked to make a color wheel out of recycled materials. This one is made from bits and pieces of magazines. 2015
Students were asked to use innovative materials to recreate masterpieces.
